Founder & Principal

Douglas Marine & Heavy Civil was founded by Sean Douglas to bring experienced, hands-on leadership to complex marine and heavy civil construction.

Sean is a registered Professional Engineer in Washington and a graduate of Clemson University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. Before founding DMHC, he spent his career working across the United States and Canada on major marine construction projects, for public and private owners. He has been involved in the construction of dams, piers, wharfs, dolphins, intakes, deep foundations, storm surge walls, bridges, and other complex marine and heavy civil structures. His work has included projects across the Southeast, Pacific Northwest, Southern California, and Canada, spanning bays, sounds, channels, rivers, and lakes.

Today, Sean remains directly involved in every aspect of DMHC’s work, serving as the company’s primary estimator and project manager. His experience includes the direct supervision of more than $200 million in self-perform construction and execution of more than $50 million in subcontracted work, with more than 27,000 hours spent in the field.
